“…the Iraqi government has done next to nothing to protect our facilities…”
Mike Pompeo, U.S. Secretary of State
Let me see if I’ve got this straight:
WE start a war in your country on misguided justification (non-existent weapons of mass destruction) and a hubristic, ideological agenda (hawkish neoconservativism, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Feith, et. al.), the end result of which is chaos, financial and political turmoil for you, AND hundreds of thousands dead on your side (shock and awe), AND millions displaced or wounded – and then, AFTER we mostly pull out, leaving widespread destruction, on top of all that, you OWE US a duty to protect our remaining troops?
That sounds fair.
(Not!)
(Wait. Shouldn’t the American military be able to protect itself and it’s facilities? Like, duh? Or it’s not worthy to call itself the United States military.)
